American TV personality Bill Maher blasted the BDS movement on a recent episode of his "Real Time" show, Fox News reported.
Maher asked his guests if it was fair to promote the BDS movement in response to the recent diplomatic crisis over a planned visit by Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), both of whom support a boycott of Israel.

Originally, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was inclined to allow the congresswomen to visit. Then he reversed his decision following pressure from US President Donald Trump. On Friday, Tlaib – but not Omar – was granted permission to enter the West Bank via an Israeli border crossing to visit her elderly grandmother, on the condition that she would not take part in pro-BDS activity during her stay.
Shortly after the Israeli government announced its decision, Tlaib declared that she could not visit under such "restrictive" conditions and cancelled.
Maher proceeded to tear down left-wing support for the BDS movement as a "purity test by people who want to appear 'woke.'"
Maher said that the movement was based on the assumption that the Palestinians, being "mostly brown," are "innocent and correct," whereas the Jews in Israel "must be wrong."
The host went on to point out that the Palestinian people had not found themselves "occupied … out of the blue."
"Forget about the intifadas and the suicide bombings and the rockets," Maher said.
Maher also pointed out that Omar Barghouti, the mastermind of the BDS movement, has said on record that no Palestinian would ever accept a Jewish state "in Palestine."
