The Sinai Peninsula "will never be part of the 'opportunity of the century'" peace proposal drawn by the Trump administration, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi told White House envoy Jared Kushner in talks on Thursday, Arab media reported.
Kushner is visiting the region to rally support for the administration's efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. US President Donald Trump's administration has not endorsed a two-state solution, which has long been seen internationally as the only viable path to peace.

On Thursday, Egypt issued a statement that el-Sissi had told Kushner that Egypt supported efforts aimed at resolving the conflict "on the basis of a two-state solution and the creation of Palestinian State with east Jerusalem as its capital."
Both sides discussed "ways to consolidate peace and stability in the region in light of the instability it suffers from," the statement continued.
"Kushner recounted the contacts the US delegation had made with various parties to set the negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis back on track," it added.
