According to available details, the drone was spotted by Israeli radar systems as it was flying over the border in northern Gaza and then flying over Kibbutz Zikim.
Once it was intercepted by one of the IDF's air defense systems, the pieces were taken in for further inspection, to determine its point of origin and what it had been carrying.
Hamas has sent drones into Israel in the past. The terrorist group that controls Gaza has stated that it has been working on upgrading its UAV capabilities for use in both offensive operations and for intelligence-gathering missions.
