A month after the German Bundestag designated the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement as anti-Semitic, the ripple effects are felt across Germany.
A week ago, the German authorities prohibited Palestinian BDS activists Khaled Barakat from speaking at an event protesting the Trump administration's peace plan in Berlin.

The authorities also decided not to renew his residency permit for Germany.
Barakat is described as a writer in his official correspondence but the Israeli government has accused him of being linked to the terrorist group The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Meanwhile, a German bank has recently informed a local BDS organization known as "Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East" that it was not allowed to operate a bank account because of the new legislation.
Another example is the decision by Germany's Presbyterian Church to cancel an event because it included a prominent BDS activist as one of the speakers.
