Over half of the Israeli public favor canceling the second election, set for Sept. 17, a joint poll by Israel Hayom and i24NEWS has found.
The data shows that 62% of Israelis would support a move that spares Israel a second election in the same year, while 38% said they "don't know."

The Likud is reportedly considering following a legal path that would allow for the cancellation of the September election in favor of reinstating the 21st Knesset and the formation of a unity government with the Blue and White party.
Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein said last week that he had discovered a legal framework by which the decision to disband the 21st Knesset, passed a mere month after parliament was sworn in after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unable to form a coalition, could be reversed.
Thursday's poll found that 73% of the public favored forming a unity government with Blue and White and 27% opposed such a move.
The poll was conducted by the Maagar Mochot polling institute among 500 respondents comprising a representative sample of Israelis 18 and older. The statistical margin of error is 4.3 percentage points.
Political insiders said that the likelihood of Likud and Blue and White putting aside their differences and forming a unity government are slim, mainly over Blue and White's demand that the Likud removes Netanyahu as party chairman.
Edelstein's assessment that the move is feasible is not shared by Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit and Knesset Legal Counsel Eyal Yinon, a senior minister said this week.
