Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused Washington of fueling tensions in the Persian Gulf by sending a US drone into Iran's air space, according to a report by Iran's semi-official Fars news agency.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps admitted to shooting down the drone, which it said had violated Iranian airspace.

The US military called the downing an "unprovoked attack" and said it occurred over international airspace in the Strait of Hormuz.
"This American aggression is the start of new tensions by them in the region," Rouhani said.
"This region is very sensitive … and important to many countries, so we expect international bodies to react appropriately."
Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzad said Monday that Iran's downing of a US drone in the Gulf last week was a "firm response" to the US's "aggression" and warned it could happen again.
"Everyone saw the downing of the unmanned drone," navy commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency. "I can assure you that this firm response can be repeated, and the enemy knows it."
Still, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said Tehran welcomes any defusion of tensions in the Gulf.
"We welcome defusion of tensions in the region. We do not want rise of tensions," he was quoted as saying by ISNA news agency.
