Two people were stabbed in an apparent terrorist attack outside Jerusalem's Old City on Friday morning.
The suspected Palestinian terrorist was shot and killed by Border Policemen at the scene.
"The assailant came to the Damascus Gate, stabbed a man, and then stabbed another man inside the Old City," police said.
One of the wounded, a 50-year-old man, was reportedly in serious condition after sustaining stab wounds to the head and neck. He was rushed to Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center for treatment.
"I saw a man … lying on the stairs near the Damascus Gate barely conscious and with stab wounds to the upper body. I gave him first aid, stopping the bleeding, and he was quickly put into a Magen David Adom ambulance," one medic at the scene told reporters.
The second wounded Israeli was a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed in the back outside the Old City's Hurva Synagogue. He reportedly sustained light-to-moderate wounds before being taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center.
"My son studies in yeshiva, and every Thursday he studies all night long, on his own. I managed to talk to him a bit and heard what happened," the teen's father said.
"What I know is that when prayers we done, he was heading back to his yeshiva and was stabbed in the back," the father said, adding that his son had tried to find help, because the area was relatively empty of passersby. He said that his son spotted the Border Police, who were in pursuit of the suspect, and kept running and calling for help.
Dr. Michael Samir, the surgeon who treated the boy, said that he arrived at the hospital in stable condition with a stab wound to the back and was conscious.
"We saw that he had damage to his lung as a result of the stab to the back, and he was treated accordingly. He has been transferred to intensive care for observation," Samir said.
The attack comes on the last Friday of the month-long Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Stabbing attacks in the old city have grown frequent in recent years, with Damascus Gate the most common site.
Later on Friday, security forces shot and killed a Palestinian teenager who was trying to climb a security fence and cross into Israel illegally from the West Bank, an Israeli official and Palestinian witnesses said.
Palestinian witnesses said the 16-year-old had tried to climb the border fence near Bethlehem.
Palestinian health officials said the teenager died from a gunshot wound and a 21-year-old was also shot and wounded.
A Border Police spokesman said that troops had shot a Palestinian who tried to infiltrate into Israel by scaling the fence and the incident was being investigated.
Israel has been on high alert during the month-long Ramadan holiday, particularly after a stabbing attack in Jerusalem earlier in the day, in which two Israelis were wounded and the Palestinian terrorist was killed.
