The death toll from Sunday's terrorist attack near Ariel rose to two on Monday after one of the two injured Israelis succumbed to his wounds.
The attack on Sunday began when Palestinian terrorist Omar Abu Laila from the village of Zawiya stabbed 19-year-old Staff Sgt. Gal Kaidan, who was standing at a bus stop on Route 5 in Samaria.
The terrorist then took Kaidan's military weapon and shot him. While fleeing, he shot two other Israelis, who were seriously wounded, including Rabbi Ahiad Ettinger, 47.
Ettinger was in critical condition overnight and pronounced dead on Monday morning. A father of 12 and a resident of the Eli settlement in Samaria, he was the head of the Oz and Emunah Yeshiva in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops continued to sweep the area overnight Sunday in search of the perpetrator, questioning family members and raiding nearby villages.
During the overnight raids, Abu Laila's brother and father were detained for questioning in their village of Zawiya. Troops also searched the premises of a business under their ownership.
Palestinian reports said that Israel has focused its manhunt on another village, Biddya, where Abu Laila was seen in a security camera.
