Ahead of the upcoming April 9 elections, Kulanu party member and Economy and Industry Minister Eli Cohen admits in an interview with Israel Hayom that "we haven't and still aren't doing a good job from an image perspective."
Speaking openly about his party's nosedive in the polls, Cohen said, "People don't remember all the good things we did for them. Unfortunately, they never remember when they get to at the ballot box, either. Ask them what Kulanu did for them, and they won't remember. If there is something we need to do ahead of the elections, it's remind them."
Cohen, who joined the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet last week, shook off any threat presented by his political rivals.
"Tell me, why should we crash [in the elections]? Because [New Right party leaders] Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett are dismantling the Right and just looking for a position? Because the model with the yellow vest [Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid] says he is a social [issues guy] but wants to be foreign minister? Because of [Hatnuah party leader] Tzipi Livni? I can't think of one significant thing she's done in her 20-year political career," Cohen said.
"And [Gesher leader] Orly Levy-Abekasis? I think that if she were to ask people on the street, they wouldn't be able to point to three things she did in her last term [in the Knesset]," Cohen said.
