He's not the Messiah, he's a very funny boy!
British actor and comedian John Cleese is scheduled to perform his latest one-man stand-up show, "Last Time to See Me Before I Die," in Tel Aviv on Sept. 1.
Cleese, 79, is best known for his tenure with the legendary Monty Python comedy troupe, which had its own television show, "Monty Python's Flying Circus," and produced classic comic films including "Monty Python's Life of Brian" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
Cleese went on to enjoy success in the series "Fawlty Towers," which ran on the BBC from 1975-1979 and in the 1988 film "A Fish Called Wanda."
Cleese has remained largely out of the spotlight in recent years but has taken guest roles in the James Bond and Harry Potter films and in Disney's animated "Shrek."
In 2012, Cleese was cast as the lead in Israeli director Reshef Levi's film "Hunting Elephants," but was forced to step down due to poor health. He was replaced by British actor Patrick Stewart.
In 2014 Cleese was part of a Monty Python reunion tour and published his autobiography, titled "So, Anyway…" The book focuses on his early career.
Last year, Cleese announced he was leaving Britain for the Caribbean because he was utterly fed up with the situation in the U.K.
Ticket prices for the Tel Aviv show of "Last Time to See Me Before I Die" range from 199-439 shekels ($54-$119).
