The Knesset Ethics Committee on Tuesday suspended Likud MK Oren Hazan from all parliamentary hearings and committee meetings for six weeks.
The suspension followed a complaint against Hazan by Defense Ministry Director General Udi Adam over derogatory comments Hazan made about Hezi Meshita, the ministry's deputy director general and head of its Rehabilitation Department.
In a meeting of the Labor, Welfare and Health Committee on Oct. 29, Hazan insulted Meshita and cursed at him.
The Knesset Ethics Committee is also reviewing additional complaints against Hazan for berating parliamentary ushers and for calling wheelchair-bound Meretz MK Ilan Gilon "half a man."
In response to the suspension, Hazan said: "No one will shut me up from protecting and defending IDF soldiers, along with disabled and shell-shocked veterans, who are doubly suffering and have been abused for years by the system and the Defense Ministry, which is failing in its duty to treat veterans who are disabled and suffer from battle shock. As long as I'm in the Knesset their voices will be heard and they will never march alone."
