Six women on Wednesday complained that veteran journalist and former Israel Hayom columnist Dan Margalit sexually harassed them in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The story was first reported by the Haaretz daily newspaper.
"He was a senior journalist, a leading scoop getter. I was a young journalist who drove to the Knesset to write her column," wrote journalist Hannah Kim in a public post.
"He came into see me in one of the Knesset's media rooms, closed the door and pushed up against me. While I was trying to push him back, another senior journalist opened the door, cleared his throat and that's how the rape attempt ended," she wrote.
"Over the years I told my friends," she said. "I didn't think of complaining because I didn't want to be 'the complainant.' When I wrote my post, it just came out. The recent 'I didn't come forward' campaign gave me the opportunity. Maybe without this campaign, it would have stayed buried, even though I haven't forgotten about it for one minute."
Another journalist, who identified as 'N,' told 103 FM radio about an incident that occurred in 1988. "He grabbed me forcefully, hugged me and tried to kiss me. I told him 'enough,' but it didn't help. It was obviously without my consent. I got free and fled from the car. After that, we never spoke again, and he ignored me," she said.
Margalit issued a response to Haaretz, saying, "The claims are baseless, I won't spend the rest of my years engaging in what is, at this time, a hopeless argument."
