Two people were hurt Thursday in a terrorist stabbing in Samaria, near the Shomron Regional Brigade army base. One of the victims, a reserve soldier, was in moderate condition, while a woman sustained very light shrapnel wounds in the ensuing melee.
Israeli forces and passersby tried to subdue the attacker but he managed to flee the scene. A manhunt was launched in hopes of apprehending him.
Several hours later, the terrorist was apprehended in a joint operation involving police and security forces, and was taken in for questioning.
According to reports from the scene, a getaway vehicle was waiting to help the attacker flee. Palestinian forces assisted the IDF in the search for the assailant and for additional collaborators, the reports said.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the terrorist pounced on a man at a bus stop, stabbing him in the chest. As the stabbing victim was being evacuated to the hospital, passersby and soldiers tried to pin the terrorist down to prevent his escape. One of them tried to shoot him but was unsuccessful.
A ricochet from the shooting attempt wounded the woman, who sustained very light injuries.
