Israeli weapons manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will unveil its new SPIKE ER2 anti-tank missile at an international defense expo in Poland this week.
The SPIKE ER2 is a precision-guided electro-optic 5th-Generation Extended Range missile, designed "to enable joint 5th-generation tactical overmatch for ground maneuver, rotary dominance, and naval deterrence," according the company.
The SPIKE has evolved into one of the most combat-proven missiles, integrated to more than 45 platforms, in use by 30 nations, with over 30,000 missiles already supplied and 5,000 missiles fired, according to the company's website.
The new missile features several new capabilities and a greater range of up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) for surface launch, and 16 kilometers (around 10 miles) when fired from a helicopter.
The missile employs an advanced Tandem HEAT warhead with armor and other surface penetration capabilities.
