Israeli soccer club Beitar Jerusalem says it wants to add "Trump" to the team's name.
The club's social media accounts says the team "from now on will be called 'Beitar Trump Jerusalem.'"
The proposal by the club's leadership was announced Sunday, one day ahead of a new U.S. Embassy being inaugurated in Jerusalem.
Beitar Jerusalem is a bastion of Israel's political right wing and a group of its supporters known as "La Familia" has been openly hostile and violent toward fellow fans. Israel's Arab minority has been the main object of their hatred.
U.S. President Donald Trump made a campaign promise to relocate the embassy from Tel Aviv.
The soccer club said, "President Trump has shown courage, and true love of the Israeli people and their capital."
Beitar is second in the Israeli league with one game left and has qualified for next season's Europa League.
In February, around 4,000 Beitar supporters fed up with the behavior of their fellow fans turned their backs on the club to follow Beitar Nordia, which was formed by a small group of former Beitar Jerusalem fans four years ago.
