Following in the footsteps of her 17-year-old cousin Ahed Tamimi, who is currently serving an eight-month prison sentence for assaulting Israeli soldiers, 12-year-old Janna Tamimi appeared in a video taken Friday verbally assaulting Israeli soldiers.
In the latest video, Tamimi, who calls herself "Janna Jihad," is seen standing in close proximity to Israel Defense Forces soldiers and aggressively cursing at them in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah.
The soldiers appear to tolerate the verbal assault and refrain from arresting her, apparently due to her young age. Like her older cousin, Janna also regularly participates in demonstrations against IDF soldiers who enter her village at will to arrest Palestinian stone throwers that often come from there.
"Palestine will be free, whether you like it or not," Tamimi is heard yelling in Arabic at the soldiers. After unleashing a tirade against the soldiers in Arabic, Tamimi addresses the camera as if she were a news correspondent.
"As you can see, these terrorist people, humans with no humanity, are coming to our land … um … trying to kill children and to make children get injured," she says in English. "From here we're sending our message in saying that Palestine will be free. From Nabi Saleh, Janna Jihad, occupied Palestine."
A popular pro-Palestinian voice on social media, Tamimi has over 280,000 followers to her Facebook page titled "Janna Jihad," in which she claims to be "the youngest journalist in Palestine."
