Israel on Monday said it was imposing penalties on the owners of Gaza buses used to transport Hamas activists to border demonstrations.
The head of the IDF's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories unit, Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai, wrote on Facebook that 14 companies had ignored Israel's warnings and transported "violent" protesters.
Mordechai said Monday that the bus owners and their families would be denied extra "privileges" and ties to Israel will be "revoked," without elaborating.
Hamas, which rules Gaza, has called for a weekslong campaign of mass protests at the Israel-Gaza border against the Egyptian and Israeli blockades on the territory.
Israel has warned it will not tolerate attacks on its border or attempts to infiltrate its territory. Since the protests began on March 30, at least 30 Palestinians have been killed in border clashes with Israeli forces.
