Some 72,000 Jews from around the world will join leading figures in Israeli society to mark Israel's 70th Independence Day this Thursday. During the overseas Independence Day celebrations, the participating Israeli leaders will call for Jews to immigrate to Israel and strengthen their ties to their local Jewish communities and the Jewish state.
Around 45,000 Jews from the United States, 8,000 from England, 4,000 from Canada, along with thousands of others from around the world, are set to take part in the "70 for 70" Independence Day festivities.
Among those Israeli leaders set to participate in the events are World Mizrachi Movement head Rabbi Doron Perez, whose organization is responsible for the "70 for 70" festivities, Habayit Hayehudi MK Shuli Mualem-Rafaeli and the Rabbi David Stav, founder of the Tzohar organization of moderate Orthodox rabbis.
In addition, World Mizrachi Movement will also be bringing 150 Jewish leaders from around the world to Israel take part in Independence Day celebrations next week.
