An explosive device placed on the Israel-Gaza Strip security fence was triggered on Wednesday morning as an IDF engineering force was working near the border. No injuries or damage were reported.
The IDF said the explosives were placed on the fence during recent border riots.
In response, Israeli tanks shelled several Hamas posts in Gaza.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit issues a statement saying, "The IDF holds Hamas responsible for every incident that transpires in the Gaza Strip and will not allow the terrorist organization to turn the border sector into a war zone."
In another incident Wednesday, IDF troops patrolling near the border fired warning shots at several Palestinians who approached the security fence. No injuries or damage were reported and the Palestinians turned back.
