The manhunt for Abed el-Hakim Adel Asi, 19, who murdered Har Bracha resident Itamar Ben-Gal outside Ariel Monday continued on Tuesday.
Israeli troops continued their search of the scene of the attack and the surrounding Palestinian villages. It is believed Asi had fled to the nearby town of Haris, southwest of Nablus, but at this time he remains at large.
Riots broke out as security forces surrounded Asi's family home in Nablus and the nearby home of one of his friends and the troops soon found themselves under fire.
The military said that some 500 rioters hurled stones, firebombs and explosives at the troops, and several rioters opened fire.
Palestinian sources reported that at least one person was killed and 70 others were wounded in the clashes.
The IDF said the troops used crowd control measures and fired in midair in an effort to disperse rioters.
Seven suspects were arrested and taken if for questioning. The IDF said the Palestinians' claims of a fatality was being investigated.
