An Israeli security guard sustained minor injuries Wednesday morning when a Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab him at the entrance to the Gush Etzion settlement of Carmei Tzur, north of Hebron. A second security guard shot and killed the terrorist.
The wounded guard, 34, sustained lacerations to his arm. He was treated on site and then taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Paramedics pronounced the terrorist dead at the scene.
According to available details, the terrorist drove up the security post at the entrance to Carmei Tzur, got out and attacked the guard.
The guard was able to fend off his attacker, long enough for the second guard to neutralize him.
A Shaare Zedek official said that the wounded guard was admitted to the Orthopedics Department in mild condition, suffering from lacerations classified as defensive wounds.
Gush Etzion Regional Council head Shlomo Ne'eman lauded the guards' actions.
"This incident ended with a miracle thanks to the quick thinking of our security guards. The battle for the land continues, and we will continue building and growing en route to exercising full sovereignty over our homeland," he said.
