The World Union of Jewish Students, or WUJS, is an international umbrella organization of Jewish student groups in more than 35 countries. Originally founded in 1924 to fight anti-Semitic quotas that limited Jews' access to higher education, the organization's first president was Albert Einstein. Other WUJS leaders have included Chaim Weizmann, Haim Nahman Bialik, Sigmund Freud and David Ben-Gurion.
In this episode of Israel Hayom Insider, Opinion Editor Steve Ganot speaks with the outgoing WUJS Chairman Yos Tarshish and the organization's newly elected president, Avigayil Benstein, about the organization's focus on issues of Jewish interest, such as anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment on campus, and issues of more general interest, such as mental health.
