Turkish hackers on Saturday hijacked the Twitter account of former Foreign Ministry Director General Dr. Dore Gold, who is currently the president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.
The hackers identified themselves as members of the "Turkish cyber army."
They changed the name of the account to "DrDoreGoldRT," tweeting various posts supporting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Palestinian struggle against Israel.
One tweet read, "Your account is hacked by the Turkish cyber army Ayyildiz Tim! Your data and your DM correspondence have been captured! The Turks will never forget, neither what is done nor what is evil."

Another tweet read, "The Turkish-Islamic Union will soon be established!"
Gold, who headed the reconciliation talks with Turkey following the diplomatic crisis prompted by the 2010 Marmara raid, was able to regain control of the account a few hours later.
"Glad to be back after my Twitter account was hacked. Thank you to those who contacted to notify me. This serves to strengthen my resolve to keep speaking out on behalf of Israel, Jerusalem and against threats to regional security," Gold tweeted.
The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs said that hacker groups of this nature often operate with the knowledge and consent of the Turkish government.
