Some 10,000 border protesters rioted near the Gaza-Israel border on Friday, as terrorists hurled dozens of grenades, explosive devices and rocks at IDF forces and tried sabotaging the security fence.
No Israeli soldiers were wounded throughout the day.
However, Hamas representatives at the various gathering points along the border restrained protesters and prevented them from trying to breach the fence and cross into Israel, in accordance with the Israeli-Hamas understandings secured by Egyptian intelligence officials.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar on Saturday reported that a Friday meeting in Gaza between Hamas representatives, the United Nations' envoy to the Middle East and Egyptian intelligence officials resulted in an agreement to maintain quiet on the Israeli front.
