President Reuven Rivlin departed Israel on Tuesday for a state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
While in France, Rivlin is scheduled to take part in an event celebrating 70 years since the State of Israel was established and France and Israel established diplomatic relations. French Jewish community leaders are also expected to attend.
The state visit is expected to help increase cooperation between Israel and France on diplomacy, security and defense issues, tourism, and cultural projects.
The visit is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday with an honor guard at the Les Invalides complex in Paris, after which Macron and Rivlin are slated to meet. On Wednesday evening, Macron will host a state dinner for Rivlin.
On Thursday, Rivlin is scheduled to tour a French air force base. The event to officially mark 70 years to Israel's establishment is scheduled for later Thursday.
Rivlin is expected to return to Israel on Friday.
