Since the year 2000, natural gas fields estimated to contain tens of trillions of cubic feet of gas have been discovered off Israel's Mediterranean coast, and Israel hopes to become a major gas exporter. But the environmental group Homeland Guardians says plans to build processing facilities for the largest field on platforms just 6 miles off Israel's coast could have dire public health consequences and cause irreparable harm to the environment.
