Palestinian cell arrested for ‎sabotaging security fence near Jerusalem ‎

Border Police troops operating in the West Bank on ‎Thursday night arrested six Palestinians suspected ‎of systematically sabotaging the security fence near ‎the Har Homa neighborhood in southeast Jerusalem.‎

The six, all residents of Bethlehem, were arrested ‎following a Border Police investigation into several vandalism incidents near the fence in recent ‎weeks. ‎

The damage caused to the fence is ‎estimated at some 100,000 shekels ($28,000).‎

The six were arrested after intelligence gathered by ‎the Border Police and the military concluded that the ‎sabotage was the work of an organized cell. ‎

Investigators said the suspects were affiliated with ‎Hamas. They are also suspected of being involved in other ‎terrorist activities. ‎

According to the Border Police, troops seized weapons ‎and explosives during a search of ‎one of the suspects' homes. ‎
